Film Festival

The video archive, A Century of Ceramics on Film & Video housed in the art department at California State University, Long Beach contains over 200 documentaries on the ceramic arts from around the world. It has taken us over three years to find and acquire these documentaries. Our archive as it stands currently has films from 23 countries. These films cover a great deal of territory both geographically and in relevance to historical information and contemporary approaches in working with ceramic materials.

The Film Festival Documentaries on the Ceramic Arts was created specifically for the Millennium Conference in Amsterdam in 1999. Since its inception the archive at CSULB has created a website, which lists films in the archive with brief written synopses of each of the films in the Amsterdam festival and short video captures of 25 select films for users to view. In addition to a web-site we have written a mission statement and skeletal bylaws by which we operate. We have tailored Film Festivals of different duration and focus for different organizations as well as advising organizations on the acquisition of films when they wish to construct their own archive of films.

Please visit the CSULB Film Archive Website for updated and current listing of our entire holdings separated by country.
